Armellodie Records are proud to release the new double A-side single from Yip Man, ‘It’s About Time We Stopped / Not That Easy’ released on 26th November 2021.
Yip Man is one Al Nero, heralded as, “a power-pop genius” by BBC Radio Scotland’s Vic Galloway, Yip Man’s talent for hooks and ability to sculpt complex rhythm and harmony into digestible chunks of unashamed pop is his herculean strength.
Both songs here are featured in 'Weegies', a new independent Scottish comedy drama series set in Glasgow that recently launched on Amazon Prime Video. The soundtrack was provided by Yip Man, with music plucked from across all three of Yip Man's critically acclaimed studio albums (2016’s ‘Braw Power’, 2019’s ‘Pure Zen, Ken?’ and 2021's ‘Cock of the North’).

When asked about collaborating on the show, Al Nero aka Yip Man stated, “Some time ago, I was approached by a fairly rough and dodgy looking gang of thugs who told me in no uncertain terms that they were going to use my songs as the soundtrack to their television show, 'Weegies'. I felt very threatened and to avoid getting my arse skelped, I agreed.”
Nero went on to say, “However, when I saw a rough cut of the finale of the show featuring ‘It’s About Time We Stopped’, I was grateful that the producers had approached me. That song is about true love and the notion that love can be fleeting and not infinite, but not necessarily un-true. The journey that the characters Lucy and Steve go on in the show really epitomises that. I knew that my songs were in safe hands, so to speak, when I saw that”.
More about 'Weegies':
'Weegies' follows the lives of Steve and George, two hapless, aspiring actors struggling for their big break, whilst navigating through modern life in Glasgow with their hopeless friends. After a successful Kickstarter campaign back in 2017, production on Weegies Series 1 was successfully completed in early 2021 with the first two episodes premiering to a sell-out audience at Glasgow east end venue St Lukes. The show has been described as a cross between Still Game and Extras and consists of five, twenty-five minute episodes, all independently produced and filmed with Landing Light studios and now streaming exclusively for free on Prime Video -
